The blow lands on a heavy Mortar used for pounding mochi, cracking it in two with a sharp kow!-the onomatopoeia for something shattering.
Dust rises from the Soil, the earth itself seeming to split, as the crowd gasps and laughs, remembering that to Break is to smash staff, mortar, and soil into one unforgettable image.
