裏 - Rear
In old Japan, when a traveler returned to his Hometown, he would hide gifts in the Rear of his robe: covered with a pot lid, bent at the bend, and tucked inside his socks. This secret storage gave rise to the idea of something hidden 'behind' or 'rearward.'
