菓 - Confectionery
In old Japan, before sugar was common, Confectionery was nature’s dessert at festivals: flower and Fruit offered and enjoyed. Later, Edo-era sugar via the Ryukyu trade turned blossoms and fruits into wagashi, which is why this character pairs flower with Fruit.
