捨 - Discard
To Discard something in old Japan, people would raise a foam finger like a signal and leave the item outside the Cottage, just as villagers once put out broken tools or old futons to be collected. The image recalls the long-standing custom of '粗大ごみの日' (big rubbish day), when households leave things out front for disposal.
